THE FREDERICKIANA ENSEMBLE

Our ensemble preserves the tradition of The Ballet of His Majesty The King Stanisław August Poniatowski which was established in 1774 and was considered a leading ballet company of it's time.

Frederickiana ballet ensemble was established in 1999 with a mission to promote Polish history, culture and heritage. By means of ballet interpretation, mainly to Frederic Chopin’s music as well as other composers, the aim is to create high-level original performances based on distinct storylines.

The ensemble consists of experienced Polish dancers - mainly soloists of the most influential theatres in Poland such as: The Grand National Opera in Warsaw, The Grand Opera in Łódź, The Grand Opera in Poznań – as well as Polish dancers from significant companies from abroad.

From 1999 onwards, the ensembles’ achievements include presenting our work in minor towns and country residences throughout Poland uncovering places which Chopin had visited – rediscovering their long forgotten links to Chopin thanks to our pioneering educational endeavours. The Chopin Exhibition, ballet performances, concerts and other jubilee exhibitions gave birth to a new term named by us: Chopin’s Routes in Poland.

Our transcendental objective reaches far beyond the term of ballet. Rescuing from oblivion forgotten country manor houses and residences of Chopin’s family and friends founding: Chopin’s Remembrance Sites. Many tourist and musical institutions participated in promoting Chopin’s Routes in Poland.

Our objectives...

Frederickiana ensemble is focused on breaking boundaries of ballet performances shown today. Up till now nobody apart from Frederickiana had the courage to interpret Chopin’s music as a vision of Poland’s history, it’s struggle in the fight for independence. Nobody before had associated Chopin’s masterpieces not only with Polish Uprisings but also with Polish customs, tradition and heritage.

The Frederickiana ballet ensemble was established in 1999 r. by Witold Biegański.

We are the only ballet ensemble in Poland and Europe which is engaged in creating new spectacles to Polish music. Performances, which are always welcomed with enthusiasm, give our dancers the chance to fulfill themselves. Their devotion and passion in the field of dancing motivates them to hours of hard physical training for the upcoming performances.
